The Yaesu VCT-101 (VC-TUNE) is a high-precision, automatically tuned receiver preselector designed to significantly improve reception quality, especially in crowded band conditions.

The unit is based on a stepper-motor-driven variable capacitor, allowing extremely fine and accurate tuning. This ensures precise selection of the desired frequency range while effectively suppressing strong out-of-band signals. The VCT-101 provides excellent rejection performance, offering up to –70 dB attenuation outside the passband.

The VC-TUNE unit is particularly beneficial for DX operation, contesting, and operation in heavily congested RF environments, where nearby strong signals may overload the receiver front end. By using the VCT-101, users can achieve improved signal-to-noise ratio, reduced intermodulation, and cleaner, more detailed reception.

The VCT-101 is fully integrated with compatible Yaesu FT-DX101 series transceivers:

• FT-DX101MP: Both the Main-RX and Sub-RX are equipped with VCT-101 units

• FT-DX101D: The Main-RX includes the VCT-101, while the Sub-RX can be upgraded with the VT-101 preselector as an optional retrofit

The unit is controlled directly through the transceiver’s menu system, with fully automatic tuning that requires no user intervention.
